RICE FESTIVAL FEATURES GAME AND PRIZES FROM YUM! BRANDS AND LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS
HONOLULU, HI (September 23, 2014) – Help fight world hunger at the upcoming 5th Annual Hawaii Rice Festival. The free, family-friendly event will be held this Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Ward Centers. Two notable partners this year include Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief effort and its beneficiary, Lanakila Meals on Wheels. Event attendees are welcome to play an exciting “Wheels for Meals” game and possibly win prizes.
Yum! Brands is the parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, and recently launched its annual World Hunger Relief effort with the “Pass The Red Cup” challenge. The challenge spreads awareness of global hunger and encourages participants to visit the campaign’s website, HungertoHope.com to give a US$5 donation that can feed 20 schoolchildren.
At Rice Fest, all family and friends are welcome to visit the Yum! Brands and Lanakila Meals on Wheels booth to participate in a fun “Wheels for Meals” game. Grand prizes include a Samsung Galaxy Tab or a two-night stay at the Westin Moana Surfrider courtesy of Kyo-Ya, and miscellaneous prizes include gift cards for Yum! Brands locations.
Other exciting Rice Fest offerings include an attempt to establish a Guinness World Record for the Largest Loco Moco, live entertainment, chef and celebrity cooking demos, the 5th Annual SPAM Musubi Eating Contest, and countless food vendors and food trucks.
As with tradition, the 5th Annual Rice Festival will graciously accept monetary and brown rice donations for Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels, the only island-wide meal service for seniors.
Sponsors of the 2014 Rice Festival include Lundberg Family Farms, Ward Centers, Oceanic Time Warner Cable, Lanakila Pacific, Yum! Brands, VH07V, Platinum Tents & Events, Hawaii Ranchers Natural Beef, HiSessions, and Yelp.
