5TH ANNUAL RICE FEST WILL SET GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR THE LARGEST LOCO MOCO

HONOLULU, HI (September 3, 2014) – Partake in celebrating all things rice-related at the the 5th Annual Hawaii Rice Festival on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Ward Centers. An exciting feat of the day: setting a Guinness World Record for the largest loco moco!

Family and children are welcome to watch event staff put together an enormous loco moco, which will weigh a whopping 1,102.31 pounds. The Guinness World Record application process requires that its participants follow stipulations, such as record guidelines, evidence, and assessments of the results. Rice Fest previously set two Guinness World Records for the largest spam musubi, and are excited to set yet another one at this year’s 5th Annual Rice Fest!

In addition to the groundbreaking loco moco segment, Rice Fest will offer attendees delicious and unique rice dishes prepared by local rice vendors. Local entertainment, a spam musubi eating contest, and celebrity and chef cooking demonstrations will also add to the day’s thrilling schedule.

As with tradition, the 5th Annual Rice Festival will graciously accept brown rice donations which will be given to Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels, the only island-wide meal provider for seniors.

Sponsors of the 2014 Rice Festival include Ward Centers and Lundberg Family Farms. The Hawaii Rice Festival is an annual family-friendly event that celebrates Hawaii’s most beloved grain, bringing together food trucks, entertainment, celebrity chefs, cooking and eating competitions, and fun for the entire family.
