HONOLULU, HI (July 24, 2013) – Join the rest of Hawaii as we celebrate our most cherished grain at the 4th Annual Rice Festival on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.at Ward Centers. Admission is FREE, so get your chopsticks out and bring your appetite for a one-day taste trip to kick off National Rice Month.

Come and sample some of your favorite rice dishes from over 30 rice vendors, participate in Da SPAM Musubi Eating Contest, or watch the experts attempt to re-break the Guinness World Record by building the WORLD’S LARGEST SPAM MUSUBI.

An action-packed day full of activities is planned that will also include professional chef demonstrations and a live performance from Kapena to celebrate a food that is a cultural cornerstone to so many in Hawaii.

We are excited to bring back Rice Fest and look forward to an attempt at re-breaking the world record for building the largest Spam Musubi,” said Edward Sugimoto, founder and organizer of Rice Fest.

Rice Fest will graciously accept your generous monetary or brown rice donations for Lanakila Pacific’s “Meals on Wheels” nonprofit volunteer-run program, Hawaii’s only island-wide meal service for seniors in need.
