(2015) Cooking Demo with Chef Mavro & Lanai Tabura
World renown chef George Mavrothalassitis (aka Chef Mavro) will be putting on another exciting cooking demonstration for the viewing audience. Joining him on stage is Cooking Hawaiian Style host Lanai Tabura. They will be preparing a Hawaiian “Oursinade” sea urchin rice soup with Kauai Shrimp. Chef Mavro grew up in Marseilles where this dish oursinade was created. Oursin is French for uni which is English for sea urchin. Sea Urchin is one of Chef’s favorite ingredients and it calls for rice!
About Chef Mavro:
George Mavrothalassitis, chef/proprietor of Chef Mavro restaurant is a founding member of Hawaii Regional Cuisine (HRC) and a James Beard award-winner. Born in the sunny Mediterranean city of Marseilles in Provence, Mavro has set deep roots in Hawaii over the last 23 years embracing the people and taking inspiration from their diverse culinary traditions. He has consistently partnered with local farmers and fishermen to offer menus dedicated to regional products from baby greens and tomatoes to vanilla and lavender.
